Awesome advantages of Music Lessons Online
I guess many people still think that it might not be possible to learn music online because it's such a "hands on" activity. However, I have learned that there are many advantages about learning to play an instrument in the comfort of your own home where you feel most relaxed. This alone makes online learning very effective.
Music lessons online are still face to face and highly engaging, especially when you have an awesome teacher like me! Many people still talk about the lag or latency being an issue but if you're internet speed is good then there's no worries. The platforms I use, Zoom and Skype, are both very user friendly. They have upgraded their software heaps over the past 2 years and continue to do so. I use the Share Screen facility when finding new songs and different inversions of chord diagrams for students. A quick search on Google and I can instantly show a student a song on Ultimate Guitar. Screen sharing is also great when I'm teaching audio recording and engineering so my students can see a mix I'm working on in my software or vice versa.
Being able to record your music lessons online using Zoom or Skype is also a fantastic feature. You can then review your lessons during the week and even share them. For example, many of my students are in the school band and take their tablets or laptops to show their fellow students what they've learned in their private lessons, very cool. I send a lot of PDFs to my students, mainly song sheets, I email videos also. Everything can be stored on their school laptop or private tablets or phones, super convenient!
Saving time and money because you don't have to travel is a huge bonus. If you live in a rural town, are there even any music teachers who live in your area? Being able to reach anyone in the world with music is awesome! Everyone has internet right, so why not try music lessons online?
